Situated in the centre of the Cyclades, close to the neighbouring islands of Naxos and Sifnos, is the magical island of Paros. The island is one of immense charm and picturesque scenery.
Paros is famous for the white marble that is produced in the quarries of the island. The famous statues of "Hermes of Praxitelis" and of "Afrodite of Milos" were amongst many beautiful works of art that were made with this very special marble.
The capital and harbour of Paros is Parikia, with it's quaint windmill welcoming visitors to the island. Parikia is a very cosmopolitan town, and one with a great selection of entertainment, tavernas and cafe bars.
One of the most famous places in the town is the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, which was built by the Byzantine Emperor Ioustinianos.
10km north of Parikia is the very popular holiday destination of Naousa. The colourful port here creates a postcard setting, where you can enjoy the natural beauty and charm of the island.
Visitors to Paros will find a wonderful selection of beautiful beaches around the island. Amongst the most popular on the island are the beaches of Santa Maria and Kolimithres. There are many other beaches that visitors can enjoy.
Paros is an extremely popular island and one that many visitors find themselves returning back to. With it's immense beauty, wonderful beaches and famous entertainment and nightlife, the island is one that everyone who visits the Cyclades should try to head to.
